Pride - Do You Have Too Much Or Not Enough? Black History Month Series 2
“Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.” —Booker T. Washington
Pride: A reasonable or justifiable sense of one’s worth or importance (Merriam Webster)
Why pride? One would ask the question without fully understanding that pride can wear many faces. If anyone has struggled for something, weathered a career, relationship or a life goal, the feeling of receiving that desire is greater when you’ve worked for it. The strength, passion and patience that got you there and ignited your fire, will reign supreme. You will be proud and for that, this characteristic is another symbol of Black History Month.
Part 2 of this series, is asking you to take a look at the successes and obstacles you’ve faced and how the reward at the end made you feel.
The tarot is designed for you to intuitively reach deep inside to find your soul’s purpose. Each week for the month of February, I have chosen a theme for reflection. I invite you to find a quiet space and meditate with the tarot cards represented by this week’s theme.
Card 1: The Chariot – You have been successful and you have worked hard, but do not forget the opposition you faced to get you there. The success you’ve received is the confirmation that what we desire will come to fruition. You can’t stop there, continue to move out of your comfort zone and step out of the chariot. Be bold, courageous and keep the faith in yourself. Know your worth!
Card 2: Six of Wands – After the struggle, it’s time to recognize that you did it! Take the time to embrace your accomplishments. You deserve to be seen, acknowledged! Pat yourself on your back! Promote yourself and continue being confident in your efforts to succeed. However, everything in moderation! Do not let the cheering go to your head, but stay humble and grounded.
Card 3: The Magician - What are you hiding from the world? There is nothing to be ashamed of with the energy of this card backing you up. As a magician, you can bring the invisible into the visible. There is value in your actions and power in manifesting your desires. Take pride in knowing you are able to pull together all your resources, channeling information and creativity into its purest form.
CRYSTAL: Rhodonite can come in “rose-red” or brownish red. Rhodonite helps you understand your purpose, and expand on your gifts and talents. You know you’re sense of worth and are proud of it. Now, use this crystal to dig deeper to find what else you can bring to the surface.
MEDITATION: Come to a comfortable seat. You can sit in a chair with your feet grounded into the earth or lie down. Close your eyes and take several deep breaths in while breathing out the tension in your body. Now allow your breathing to fall into its own natural rhythm, bringing your awareness to your root chakra (located between the tip of the tailbone and the bottom of the pubic bone.) Invite in a red glow that will fill you up, spreading out from the base of your spine down through your toes grounding you to the earth and bringing in self-worth, strength and security. While sitting or lying down with this feeling of empowerment, connect to the energy of the earth. Feeling empowered, from your belly repeat the affirmation “I am able to manifest my dreams into reality.”
